happy and talkative does not equal manic. You need to observe your reactions and behaviour. Ask your sister to have a better look. Check how long the "swings" last. Then go the doctor. We can't diagnose you here and I would also not trust a psychiatrist who gives you a diagnosis after one appointment.

This. Manic features are PRESSURED SPEECH, #1, disorganized thinking, diminished need for sleep, and irrational irritability. It does not mean "happy" or even "good", it means "pathological amounts of excitement in the brain", which can make you feel light as a by-product but don't always. It's also hereditary, so if you dont know someone in your family who has had it you almost certainly don't have it.

Dr here. Go read up DSM5 criteria for bipolar mood disorder 2. I doubt you have it but just see whether you have any symptoms and if you do speak to your psychiatrist. And as for your depression remember pills only work 1/3 of the time. Try mindfulness training. All the best

Mania needs to last more than 2 weeks and depression as well. You can't just be swinging between happy and sad from day to day and call it bipolar. That's pretty normal. On top of that Mania involves grandiose delusions pressured speech insomnia no appetite spending sprees and etc. Read the criteria as anon mentioned

Well I never have anything abnormal with my appetite or having delusions/hallucinations. I can say what I thought about my manic symptoms was happy/talkative and few days later go back to quiet/feeling blue.
I frequently felt empty when I'm back home after party or having some fun with friends.

I stopped my medicine and going toy psychiatrist/therapist since I moved to another state for like 2 years already. I don't know if it's caused me bipolar depression.
