I'm guessing I can still be drafted into war even with asthma?
What draft? If you're American we don't have conscription anymore, technically, because it's not really enforced. Besides there are plenty of people who have already volunteered for the Armed Forces.
Nah. Combine it with a mental illness of your choice and top it off with documented sucidal ideation and you'll stay civilian for life.

Oh, nevermind then. How about just speaking in general terms?

The chance of conscription for you is less likely than you winning the lottery. Thanks to tanks, motion sensor machine guns, and other robotics, the need for manpower is already fulfilled. Some believe(not gonna cite) we can have a smaller military and still defend ourselves pretty good. Keyword is defend. right now, the US miltary has their fingers in everyones pie

This is assuming you're American, Op. But in general, you'd proly just do civilian work to help with the war effort.
Todays US soldier needs an investment of thousands of dollars, which they'd like to spend on healthy people.
