Start trying to think better of people. Your brain has plasticity and changes when you think differently. This will literally chage your brain's physical structure, making it way easier and usual to think the way you make yourself think. TL;DR think better of everyone and it will become easier to think better of everyone, try to be happy about everything and talk to people more when you can.

OP, the fact that you don't want anyone to suffer means you don't have a dark heart and you're a good person who wants to be better. you're probably seeing too much of the bad side of humanity. take a break from watching the news. meditate/pray/sleep/drink/eat/whatev-relaxes-you in a quiet place. watch youtube clips of funny cats and cute doggos.
