I said something dumb a year and a half ago. Basically, I'm on a sports team and we all give a story. I stretched the truth on mine last year and now suddenly I'm public fucking enemy number one. They made me say it again this year in front of a crowd of like 60 and basically harassed and mocked the shit out of me. Like, not just banter, I can handle banter, but like just made me look like a dunce. Why are people so fucking awful?

What did you say, OP? This is important if you want an honest answer.
I agree with >>18011334 details would be important in this situation, but you're not obligated to.
That said, people are assholes. I've gotten used to it at this point. I just stopped caring about other peoples opinions on me for the most part. Only the opinions of people close to me matter at this point.
If it's not too big of a lie, then I'd play it off as a joke, assuming it's not too late that is. Best of luck anon, but I wouldn't sweat it too much if things don't pan out.

You never mentioned what you said, so yeah, you lied so it's your fault, deal with it

What did you say though? And if you "stretched the truth", you could've said so after you told the story the first time or at least before they made you say it the 2nd time. Like "....ayyy just kidding guys hahaha." Or "what REALLY happened was..."
Maybe just tell the honest truth next time.

Depends on what you said. Most people in general will mock you if they know you're lying or yanking their leg. Better to just admit you fucked up than try and mask it further.
