Sometimes they finalize paperwork and shit and get your file ready before calling you.

Just give it time I've waited months to get a call before because they told me it would take that long and it paid off.

Calling does show initiative, but calling this early could come across as desperate, naggy and inconsiderate since you know when they're interviewing people. If you haven't heard by the end of the week, then call. I wouldn't recommend calling any sooner than that
