Do the benefits of having social media outweigh the problems it brings?
What's your opinion?
It's nothing but problems if you suffer from anxiety. You tend to over-analyze everything you see posted, wonder why that girl you like liked that one guys post/photo, and getting bummed when you send someone a message then see them online but get no reply.
I use it to network with people, meaning staying in touch with past and present friends/coworkers. I post a picture and basic info, that's about it. If someone posts something I really like, I'll do the like button thing. I may occasionally use it to try to talk to someone. Sometimes I'll scroll through my suggested friends just to delete all the black booty models and hijab wearers when I'm bored.
It's a good way to network and not be a complete social retard. As for drawbacks, you're compromising privacy, and publicizing aspects of you personal life.

>girl you like likes another guy
If she's liking other guy's photos and you guys have been talking, she's sending you a signal that she's not interested. That's what that means.
>getting bummed when no reply
If somebody doesn't reply I take it as they are not interested in being friends. I never talk to them again if they don't reply.

My Facebook is just people posting Trump shit. Each person will post about Trump up to 5-20 times per day. It is the weirdest thing I have ever seen, it's like they have become mentally ill.

People on my Facebook post cool funny videos, stuff they do, and occasional food porn, which I love.
I don't do politics on social media. I plan to go into law enforcement and people probably know, which puts me on the lower end of likability. Being political would make me too unlikable.
I've seen maybe 3 posts about Trump on my feed.

Holy fuck. I think I need to delete some people then

It's good for keeping in contact with friends.
That's really about it.
I didn't read what this thread of yours is about, but I think you should definitely say sorry to that poor guy. he didn't deserve it.
Short answer: it's bad.
Long answer: It is an unnatural means of communication only recently introduced and it destabilizes perfectly normal relationships needlessly.
