How sohuld I act and stuff?
any other general advice?
It's normal to be nervous when starting at a new school. Is this hs or uni?

Be polite, frank and reserved enough not to appear clingy. Never point out the obvious. An example of this would be uttering the words: "that is funny/cool/dope" if someone is funny just a quick smile of recognition will suffice. Don't try to act in any particular way at all. Just take everything at face value. React but don't reject. If you don't get something, it is advised to say I don't get it, but don't use it unless you want to know.

I just really don't wanna be that guy that no one talks to or even acknowledges.
I have a hard time "breaking the ice" so to speak.

Ok no worries. I've been to a few different hs before I graduated and believe me, I felt nervous for each one. It's hard finding a group to fit in with. Don't try too hard and don't settle either. You'll find your people and you know what, you'll graduate and find yourself in college or uni. Join some clubs and after school activities that interest you and see if there's anything you enjoy. That's a great way to make friends without the pressure of trying to "break the ice" with anyone. If I could change one thing about my own high school experience, I'd have gotten more involved with after school activities and put myself out there more. Also, keep in mind, that other people are just as awkward feeling and anxious as you are. We all like to put our best foot forward and look like we're so out together. We're all just putting on a show though and feeling similarly most of the time. I hope you have a great school year anon.
