It's going to sound lame, but since I'm stunted socially, I try to put myself in the shoes of characters I've read in books, and apply it to real life. This allows me to feel how they feel, and in turn helps me to feel their ideals or morals. In this way, I am able to beat apathy and become sympathetic to other people.
