Friend is sick and asked if I could cover for him at work
I told him I didn't want to, but the experience confused me.
Is this normal? I've literally never worked in a restaurant before, don't know anyone there, etc etc
I've given this guy $500 rent money when he's been going through bad times so it's not like I don't care about his well being or am unwilling to help out but...
What I don't understand is why he thought I would be even slightly interested in doing his job for him? I don't give a flying fuck about his job, and his job doesn't know I exist- so why would I be dragged into the equation at all?
Have a weird picture of a doll for your trouble

That is a weird proposition, and quite honestly if one of my friends asked me that I would think he was joking.
Obviously, it doesn't seem to be the case in your situation.
So yeah, it's pretty weird to ask someone who doesn't work at the same place to cover your shift at work.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought. I'd understand if we worked at the same place

that is a weird proposition. i mean do you e ven have any restaurant experience? let alone working here for a day would slow down the crew more than it woudl help him. it is a weird request imo

Dude what the fuck most companies wouldn't put up with someone who doesn't work for the same company showing up to cover a shift. I know I most certainly wouldn't ask that of my friends seriously.
Perhaps he confused you for one of his coworkers
