I've been looking into it and based on what I've read I feel like it could be good for me. I've always kind of idealized a small quiet life, so I was wondering if anyone here is one/knows somebody who is a minimalist and how to get started. Is it also even possible to start in college? Or just wait until I graduate and get a place of my own?

depends on how you define it, but a LOT of people live minimalist lives, they can't afford much, have to share rooms, eat shitty food etc.

How do I begin? How does it affect my social life?

minimalist =/= poor
in fact minimalism has to do with dealing with the essentials and cut the noise. living with other people is literally noise in your life. real minimal life is the life of a loner.

>How do I begin?
start appreciating minimal art.
>How does it affect my social life?
it streamlines it. cut all energy leeches and perturbators in your life.
you should end with maybe 1 or 2 friends. all else is garbage. contact with family is only formal, you dont need or depend on anyone.

well if you are rich you have more to lose then being a minimalist. the homeless can happen to anyone even the rich.
