I want to take a two day trip to Washington DC for the US Presidential Inauguration this Friday.
Hoping to stay Thursday, and Friday night, and leave on Saturday. I live in Connecticut, so it's not too far from me. I might take a train or drive.
My question is, where is a decent nearby city that I can stay in, and take public transit to DC?
I'm sure its going to be crowded as fuck. Probably flying solo. Will be a neutral spectator to avoid getting snuffed.
Tank yaw
Any urban area in Virginia or Maryland will do, Greyhound and Amtrak cover the entire Northeast.
The "Transportation in Washington D.C" Wikipedia article has some good information.

Brentwood might be good. Just try and find a hotel that is within Uber / Subway distance and is in a relatively safe area. This is a Donald Trump inauguration, so regardless of ur political opinions, you will want a safe place to sleep as some people may want to harm u out of anger/

Definitely anon. I still live with my parents, and I'm pretty sure there reaction to me going there is going to be one of fear. I get it though, there could be a high volume of terrorist activity going down there. . .
On the bright side, I was actually in New York City for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Saw a Japanese rock band play (The Pillows) at the Grammercy Theater. Technically I'd say that's a bit of a warm-up for another huge political event.
I'll definitely look up Brentwood.
P.S.
I hope to find some nice marijuana in DC :- )

highly unlikely with the inauguration

Your dubs checked mine.
I'm sure the feds will be everywhere. But I heard even Trump supporters plan on giving free marijuana out themselves.
bump
Arlington. Get a hotel in Crystal City. It's nice

Looks nice. Super expensive hotels though . . . $200 minimum

Well if you're just there for that event, why not splurge a bit? There are tons of shops and restaurants there all underground. And easy subway access to all the touristy areas of DC.

No, I'm not going there to drop stink bombs and start riots you fucking twat.

>spending all that money to throw a futile tantrum because your candidate lost the election
Sad
The metro goes to a bunch of places in Virginia and Maryland right from Union Station (where the Amtrak comes in) and is pretty easy to navigate compared to the NYC Subway IMO. Though it'll be crowded as fuck on inauguration day.
You could try Alexandria or Tysons Corner, but they might be expensive. I'm gonna be at the march the day after inauguration.

Have you recovered from the tears youve exerted?

Sorry, I just want to see history in the making.
