So I used to go to the gym 6 days a week, I was making a change and then I started to slowly lose interest because my gym partner started to do alot more then what I wanted to work on and went full bro on me. He wanted to train to be a powerlifter and do full body workouts like 2 times a week. Basically I had to stop going with him because we wanted more then what I wanted in the gym, so long story short I was gym partnerless and lost the willpower and motivation to keep going. So for the past like 5 months i've stopped going. I need to go back and start training again to get in shape and stronger but I have no idea how to do it alone. I have no one else I can go with most of my friends are out of shape guys who have no interest in the gym.
Don't use others as a crutch.
Just go to the gym and work out. Stop making it a social thing and make it a you thing.

I was using him for a motivational push kinda thing, it wasn't just someone to talk with, which was nice in the rest times, but mainly I needed him to help me push and go further then I was able to. I tried to go a few times and just fizzled down.

You should have kept your gym rat buddy. Get him back if you can.
The best thing you will ever learn in life is to never rely on motivation and instead just exercise discipline.
You won't achieve any meaningful goals if you only work towards them when you are just the right amount of inspired. Literally just make yourself do it.

If I do go back with him its 3 hour gym days with me sitting there while he does full body shit mixed in with the normal workout. I can't handle that shit again, it was too much.
