Is it wise to learn two languages at the same time? I don't really have friends who speak either language nor know anyone I can lang exchange with.

Here's my problem, if I were to pick just one, I'm not sure which would be more beneficial. My options are:

Chinese:
>taking basic course at my university
>doesn't teach characters
>only know a few terms and can't really hold a conversation
>will be useful for getting jobs
>economy in china is booming so learning mandarin will be useful
>most spoken language

Korean:
>learnt non-constilently for may a yearish and a half.
>learnt to read and distinguish chars in 2weeks or so
>can speak and pronounce well
>can read the characters
>can't hold long conversation and vocab is very very limited
>less career opportunities than china
>getting a job in the country would be hard unless fluent

what do?

There are plenty of websites where you can skype with people who are willing to practice the target language with you. Learning two languages at once isn't bad or hard, especially when the two languages are closely related to each other. I'd say go for it. What's stopping you except yourself?

Besides my lack of discipline, motivation and management. I guess not much, though I've been told countless times that language exchanging is great, i've tried language learning apps and sites but they're just essentially dating sites now. Literally no one is as serious to learn as I want to be, people are either looking for bfs, friends or aren't serious.

What websites would you suggest. Please don't suggest interpals or hellotalk.

I'm also learning korean, and want to pick up chinese after. I bought all 19 TalkToMeInKorean books. I maybe think chinese will be too hard. Where are you from btw? I'm Norwegian. 안녕하세요

Never heard of those sites. Check these sites out: https://www.mylanguageexchange.com

it's not that hard to search the web. Try meet-ups too for people in your area learning either OC your target languages. Good luck.

From the UK man. How are the TTMIK books? I have the 1st and 2nd Korean from Zero books (won them for free) but I haven't been through it fully.

I also have a mandarin book recommended by my chinese teacher.

안녕하세요. 잘 진앴어요?
