I want to leave school but also don't want to get fucked. Is my happiness *now* more important than getting qualifications then going to uni then maybe having a fulfilling career? I want to work in electronic design but there aren't really any entry level positions anywhere, not even apprenticeships...
I'm thinking about writing to some companies asking for some sort of opportunity but idk if that's something that people do.. And it's not like I don't have the necessary skills, I know my stuff I just don't have a qualification to back that up (other than my ham radio licences). University is the only route I'm told but I can't waste the next 4 years of my life. I just want to work

Get started on that g.e.d. so they can at least confirm you didnt leave school just because you hate work and tests. This is literally why high school diploma and college degrees are sought out. Because these people did the work assigned and passed the tests. Among other things hiring people below 18 is just bringing in a damned liability to the work place. Stay in school and tough it out if you can. Those might be the best couple years of your life waiting for you if you end up failing to acquire good jobs and good friends.

If your grades are fine then just stay in school and work part time. You need to learn to derive happiness from elsewhere and how to survive in a shitty situation like this.
