Hey, 4Chan. I just decided to find out what this is, maybe become a part of it. Have no idea how to get involved.
Anyone have some tips or advice for a newcomer to 4Chan?
Kill yourself, retard.

Lurk more, and always deny that you're new.

Escape while you still can. Not kidding, leave, you'll regret it if you don't.

If you like feeling depressed this is the place to be.

Don't post until you get what's happening here and how stuff works
Encyclopedia Dramatica is a good place to start. I've been reading up articles for two years without actually going in here because I didn't feel witty enough.

This site is like simulation of hive mind. Loud minority posts memes, baits, trolls others. Still sometimes you can meet reasonable posters.
Every board is cool in some way. But whatever you do, you have to realize that this place is just another website filled with various views on subjects. Also if you are weak willed, sad or easily manipulated by media, you should probably stay away.
But this is still very cool place to find very unusual views on great spectrum of subjects.

You are lucky you posted this here in /adv/ because you would have been eaten alive on other boards.
Every board is pretty different. Depends on what you are looking for. /adv/ is generally where people go for relationship and life advice/support.
Personally, I lurked for like 4 years before I even posted. Never say you're new. If you don't know what someone is talking about, google it before responding.
With all that being said, I'm 24 and I have been here since I was 15 because my mom never gave a shit about what we did with our computers.
I can never seem to leave. it gets addicting. Getting people's responses are addicting. Shit posting is addicting. Just don't bring your 4chan self to your friends house. 4chan is an experience for the lonely.

Rubbish. i come here to look at other people's problems and figure them out and learn from them and apply it to my own life. If you want to make sweeping generalizations like a typical pessimistic 4channer then go ahead, but just remember there are more creatively minded people that try to make the best of things.
