Man there's no such thing as having a good heart without actually acting on it. Aim to keep the rules you say you don't apply to yourself in your mind at all times and consider them the next time you're faced with a decision of any kind. It can begin with shit as trivial as choosing whether or not to take the time to walk your dog for as long as it needs, whether or not to help that one guy who seems to be having a lot of trouble with something that's a breeze for you, whatever, the point is that it's the little things that influence your thinking later on. Set up reminders if you have to. You have to go out of your way and actively try to get into the mindset of being a noble human if that is what you aspire to be and doesn't happen to you naturally, which it doesn't to the vast majority of people.
