Optimists live longer and accomplish things pessimist would never even attempt, so the first.
Pessimists have nothing positive to contribute, no hope for the future, no gratitude. Can't be both. Optimism is complement of pessimism.
So I go with optimists but I value practical, reasonable and enough, too.

Unfortunately reality is often depressing, so I come off as a pessimist.

Like everyone else has mentioned, realism. to offer only optimism and pessimism is to ignore what the two mean.
while optimistic has been taken to be a positive thing, it was not intended that way. pessimism just means seeing the bad side. optimism means ignoring potential consequences.
realism is just removing your emotional attachment and thinking 'how is this really going to affect anything?'.
if the answer is 'well this will work out well and even if i fail there's no real consequence' its not optimistic. because optimism is about belief, not understanding.
if the answer is 'well if i do that ill probably break a leg, it happens to 75% of people and i dont have the training to survive' that isn't pessimism cuz you're not looking at the downside, you're looking at hte facts.

Optimisitic enough to take risks
Pessimistic enough to know putting your life savings all into bitcoin is a bad idea.
Optimism.
Might be bad, might not, but the right attitude makes a difference more often than we'd like to think. As long as you can stand things not always going your way, there's anyways next time.
