Calling any medifags
My left masseter has a sharp pain when I clench my jaw or move my jaw in that direction.
Been like this for a few days.
Thought it was caused by sleeping with my jaw in a weird position or grinding my teeth and hoped it would go away on its own.
Don't feel any pain when my jaw is in a neutral position and I don't have trouble opening my mouth.
That side feels a little numb when I touch it.
What do?
bump
pls halp
sounds like TMJ; plenty of exercises you can try for that on youtube.
In all likelihood, you're probably grinding your teeth at night; I'd recommend buying some over the counter mouthguards at your local drugstore (the ones you boil and mold to your teeth);
I'm assuming you don't wanna make some medical bills for this, so do a combination of exercises and mouthguards at night for a week and see if there's any improvement.

following up on that; more or less the same thing that happened to me; came completely out of nowhere one morning and I couldn't even open my mouth slightly without sharp pains; restrictions in range of motion would then vary week to week, in addition to lock'n'popping, and grinding, etc; learned to live with it as an annoyance for a few months before finding doing something about it.
you're probably looking at 4-6 weeks of this before jaw muscles are balanced out / kick the habit of grinding at night;
and there's always the usual fluff of avoiding stress, alcohol before sleep, etc etc.
I had this happen to me OP. I was getting wicked jaw pain that was actually compressing my teeth and causing them to ache. I thought it was a cavity but nah, I was just sleeping on my right side too much on a stiff pillow.
I did some jaw stretching and realignment exercises and started taking magnesium citrate supplements before bed to ease my jaw clenching. Problem solved.
Did you chew on something hard? That could dislocate your jaw.
Go to a doctor ASAP, it's either tmj, an infection, or a heart attack. Get a blood test too, it'll make diagnosing the issue so much easier. If you start to experience facial swelling, go to the ER.
Source: my dad experienced a similar pain and was laid up in the hospital for 2 weeks cause doctors misdiagnosed him
