How do I get my dumb dog to stop barking at people walking across the road? I just want him to bark if someone comes into the yard or if they try to get his attention

get a friend to walk past across the street, come into your yard, and try to get his attention

gib piece of kibble to dog when acceptable barking occurs

withhold kibble when unacceptable barking occurs

repeat

Get him to walk to tucker him out. It could be boredom or hyperactivity. Invest in guard training him. Any amount of training and exercise is a good thing anyway.
