how do I get a boyfriend?
it seems like no matter how much I show interest, nothing comes out of it. Im extremely shy because I have a low self esteem so by showing interest in someone, I usually just show them extra kindness/praise. is this too subtle?
for instance, the last guy I liked was being teased of for his height (around 5'7) by his male friends. I said I agreed with him & thought that he was tall.
or another time I praised him on his ability to shoot and another time on his knowledge of history.
is saying stuff like this too weird? I feel like i don't know how to flirt and when I try to i just say things that any nice/kind person would say. please help.

Flirting is being nice + being there. You are doing it already. You are showing interest and being nice. Unless you are willing to put your hand down his pants, there's no way to make it more obvious. Ask him out to do stuff and shit if you want.
Keep in mind that he might be distracted or just not into you. Don't take it too personaly.
