Girls in particular:
How would you feel if your partner got you a 70's style stereoscope for your birthday?
Im going for something different.

Not a girl, but would absolutely love it

Well, I have no place to put it and no interest in using it. It wouldn't be the best.
I wouldn't dislike it if I had a bigger house and place to show antiques/vintage things, or some interest in stereoscopes.

Pretty cute quirky gift. I'd be happy with that rather than the usual food or whatever.

if you're trying to impress a girl, it can't be somethign that just any girl would approve of.
the whole idea of a present being special / different is that it coems from the heart, something you put thought into, and something they enjoy.
whether or not other girls would want it is irrelevant, except for if they all say they'd love it, in which case: congrats its not something different.
a stereoscope isn't 'different'. its just weird. its like giving your girlfriend an old record player even though she refuses to listen to anything before the last five years.

Just get her something she can use or an experience. I wouldn't be happy with the present and would see it as another thing that will take up space.

it came with 6 reels of paris in 70s and an illustration booklet of paris...in the 70s. She's said shes wanted to go there but never has to the 3d imagery seemed fitting, even if she just uses it once or whatever
If you want to go down that route, a custom reel would make it less of a random gift.

OP is probably a cheap faggot. So unless that's cheap...
The right question would have been "Is this a good gift to give to my girlfriend after I take her out to a really nice restaurant for her birthday?" and the answer would have been "Yes, that's fine"
