Nah I live at home with my parents. Don't own a car. My dad drives me to and from campus and I have to wait until he gets off work to return home. Needless to say I feel very restricted.

Not him but my school only let's first years live on campus. That being said there is a shitload of housing close to the school, and that farther away you go the cheaper it becomes (but still within reasonable public transit distance)

Seems pretty damn expensive, though. Don't really know where to go from here. By the time I save up that much money I'd be out of school.

Save up money to get a car first. Any civic or corolla around 4K will do. Maybe a miata. Cars are not super expensive.

You're right, getting a car would go a long way toward my gaining independence. It's not like my parents give a shit about what I do, but I can't do anything because I can't go anywhere.
