I'm living in Canada and boxing day is coming.
I thought I should get myself a TV but I don't have much experience or knowledge when it comes to all those technical aspects.
Here's what I know.
I want a good picture so it has to be UHD/4k display.
I'm can't afford OLED so LCD/LED for me. I'm looking for something decent in a 1- 1,5k range (2k would be really pushing it)
I'm going to put it 10x10 feet room with no windows.
Main use would be watching tv channels, Netflix, downloaded Blu-Ray movies, playing Xbox one and I wasn't sure but possibly double it as a computer screen?
What I don't know is what are all those other specs and how important are they? IPS display, quantum dot, HDR, curved screen, etc. I came to Best Buy and there are so many tv's with different specs that I can't decide on what I need.
Is there anyone here with a high end TV or someone knowledgeable who can share their expertise? How do you choose, what's important and what's just a gimmick? What should I buy?

As long as it isn't s Coby, Sony, or LG, get it. Panasonic is not bad at all. They have great 4k screens. What size you looking at getting?

Thanks.
I don't know... I've been browsing YouTube watching everything about tv's and they say the bigger the better with 4K. 50-60 inches should be just fine for my room. Although I'm afraid how comfortable can it be to use it as a computer screen when it's this big.
My fav brand is Samsung for tv's.. But what's wrong with the brands you mentioned?

Coby won't last you a year, LG is overpriced and the pixel quality isn't even that good. Sony is ok but their speakers go out quite a lot on there TVs.

Also, yes the bigger the tv the better the 4k. 50+" tv will definitely do you justice. Toshiba has some great 4k TVs for a good price. I currently use one for my pc, and man let me tell you... gaming on this thing is fucking radical. Just look around and make sure you look up reviews on the tv you're thinking of purchasing.

every little specification you could imagine
also what you need for a monitor is very different from everything else you listed so realize there is a premium associated with having the right panel for all applications
