How do you get rid of that vague and ambiguous Need when you already have everything that you want?
You man up and tell yourself that you don't need it. Then move on from that context.

I have. It's like deciding that I don't have a left arm anymore. It's still there.

Have you considered getting things you don't want?

It's "still there" because you haven't move on. Moving on means just follow the natural next line of thought.

If you mean like wife and kids, my dad tried that and it's an understatement to say that it didn't work out for him.

Well, would you kindly tell me what that would be?
This "you're just not trying hard enough" meme was fucking old before the internet was invented. You can't just guilt people for not being capable of doing things they're not capable of and feeling smug about wasting oxygen on making the world a better place for nobody in any position.

What do you normally do?
I eat, think of future securities, watch anime, think of buying new computer parts, wasting time on 4ch, etc.
If for example the issue is me wanting more new computer stuff, I simply skip that line of thought and go to the next, aka watching anime, eating, etc.
It's all about occupying the mind with a substitute. Your mind can only do so many at same time. Once you do something else, it will forget the previous stuff.
This is how brains work. This is what I mean by move to the next stuff.
You usually have to force yourself to do the next stuff during those times where some thought / impulse seems to overpower you. The more routine that next stuff is, the easier on the mind it becomes.

I work, I write, I cook, I keep my home clean and neat, I dick around on the internet, occasionally make art or some weird crafts shit, and all this time there's a hole, something missing that's just not there but which I suppose has never been because I have no idea what it is.
Except when I'm drunk. Then the void disappears.
