I learned to assume that everyone either hates you or wants to take advantage of you until proven otherwise.
Still assume everyone hates you, but if a person starts to seem friendly see where it goes and guage weather you think they are genuine

Anons, please. Hatred is very strong emotion, it's unlikely that you're relevant enough to actually trigger it in somebody.

I mean it as in a general dislike. Not actual "hatred" I guess
People have definitely disliked me even when I thought we were friends. I have learned from experience that it is not unreasonable to assume most people you meet either dislike you or want to use you in some way until you learn through them making effort to see and talk to you that they are genuine.
My life has been a lot better and I have been hurt less by people ever since I started seeing things this way

Dislike is also unlikely without pre existing condition say you either done something for that or affected it in a passive way, say being black while the guy is a racist.

Although you're right that want something from you, but this is pretty much given even with actual friends.
