my friend got me a job working at his dad's petrol station last friday, but its 2-2.5 hours by public transport to get there each way and shifts can start at 7am or end at 10pm (so somedays I might have to wake up at 4:30 or take the train late at night and might get raped). Also during 24th dec to 10th jan a lot of his employees are going overseas so he said he needs me to do 6-7 days a week which is just too full on for me compounded with all these other factors.
But the guy is my best friend and his dad is a great manager. I just cant handle it but I want to leave on good terms and not leave the business in a pickle (if not enough employees to work during christmas). How do I leave amicably?
Give him your two weeks notice and do everything asked of you until then. Give him your reasons and just leave. Not easy, but has to be done.
Maybe you should keep that job until you find something else though.

Why would you ever in your right mind take a job like this? Unless your making some stupid money for working at a gas station this is insane.
Put in your two weeks if you want to be courteous but this just isn't doable and they should understand that.
Go find some seasonal work somewhere closer.
I only started last Friday do I still need to do the 2 week thing?
I feel bad because I said on the phone that I wouldn't mind the log transport issue but after actually doing it it's worse than I thought
Also what about the aspect of it being my best friend?
Give him your two weeks notice and just let him know it's because of commute time.
It's a shit job, it's not like he expected you to be there forever or anything
