Interview advice?
I have probably my 10th in person interview for a real job coming up. I always do great in the phone interview, i have some notes in front of me and such. My cover letters IMO are well written and thought out. I just always fuck up the in person interview.
>I overthink the intentions of the questions
>get nervous that I'm talking too long or not enough
>whether I should show that I'm cool or a polished professional
>better to be honest or a lie to a "do you know how to ___" question
>what questions should I be asking
>should I be taking notes or is it disrespectful not to look eye to eye
Do you guy have any tips?
Anyone with HR or hiring experience would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone?

I'm not really sure how else to put it.
I my girlfriend and I have been dating, what maybe 3-4 months now? At first I guess it was quirky and kind of cute in a way. But it has really gotten out of hand.
She wears Fucking flannel shirts, straight legged levis, cowboy boots like all the time. I'm kind of embarrassed to go out with her in a way. We don't Fucking live in some rural area, this is the Yay Area yo. Fucking at least be hipster?
I mean I get she grew up in the South, and I even ignore her twang accent even though she is Korean and that makes it Fucking weird. But I can't keep pretending her dressing like this is normal. It's really not.
I tried to get take her out shopping and have her try on some blazers, plum skirts, jumper and shirt, some Fucking Vera Wang and shit. Anything. Dudes, she got Fucking upset! Said I was trying to take away her identity. Are you Fucking kidding me right now? What identity? She isn't she isn't country. That's not even her heritage!
Honestly it's getting hard to overlook this. I'm about 50-50 with her right now calling it a break with us.

Hi OP, the first thing you need to do is find everything you can about the company. Google your ass off. YOu need to show the interviewer you really are interested. This is vital.
Take a breath before you aswer any question and ask yourself "what does s/he want me to show?". Then answer. I dont think taking notes is a good idea, and just keep respectful eye contact.

I'm struggling with in-person interviews. The only thing I can say is where black or some dark color that doesn't show sweat stains.

I don't have any of that, I get hired every interview for crappy retail jobs, but I'm back at college and haven't had a professional interview. But I'll put in my 2 cents.
>>I overthink the intentions of the questions

Don't be nervous. Get yourself to the "don't give a fuck" head space. Maybe listen to something like The Money Store or Chaos AD on the way there. But do this when you get out of the car: smile and think "I'm a business man, the best at what I do, and I completely agree with the corporate ethos. I get the job done!" - i.e., be a good liar.
>>whether I should show that I'm cool or a polished professional
Polished professional.
>>better to be honest or a lie to a "do you know how to ___" question
Totally depends on the context.
>>what questions should I be asking
I usually think up at least one. If I don't really have any, I ask something logistical.
>>should I be taking notes or is it disrespectful not to look eye to eye
I wouldn't take notes. Maybe if you're an accountant or something, otherwise it's overkill.
Basically, try to seem happy, well adjusted, easy going, and engaged. When they pause I like to interject things like "Oh, that's very fair minded, I'd like to work for a company like that!"
But you have to adjust your bullshit meter. It really all depends on the context.
One particularly sleazy trick I pull is giving myself a buzzcut and using "sir" and stuff a lot, trying to seem like a straight cut, possibly military, boy. The ole bait and switch. Come thursday I'll be horribly hung over talking to my co-workers about customer's camel toes.
>>whether I should show that I'm cool or a polished professional
Polished professional.
A follow up on this: the manager wants to maximize profits. You can derive just about everything you need to know from this fact.

Did my research before hand. I'll try to remember the deep breathes before Qs

definetaly will keep in mind. good tip.

only reason i bring up the notes is some people say its to seem really interested.
And the email said it would last an hour. So I guess I better talk my ass off.
