I have a comfy life on the eastern US coast, making a decent salary in a beautiful city. I recently got contacted by a recruiter out of the blue, and am going to interview for an international position that would uproot me, and move me overseas to Germany. I'd have to figure out what to do with the wife, cars, etc., and move from a city I love to a place thousands of miles away from my family and friends etc. to make what's probably a really good career move and a significant bump in salary.

Have any of you faced a dilemma like this? I feel like I'd regret not doing it in 5-6 years, but this is also by far the most comfortable I've ever been in my life and I'd absolutely be tossing myself back out into the wind. Just looking for some perspective and guidance I guess.

If it was me, I wouldn't do it, unless I had family or friends in the new country, or spoke the language.

If you're currently happy, comfortable, and making enough to save money, then why change things? Germany is nice but it's very different from North America, in a lot of ways.

where in germany?

I do speak a good bit of German. What I'll say is if I made the salary this position offers now, I probably wouldn't want to take the offer. As it is I'm basically breaking even and not really making progress towards financial goals.
