academics is over rated
Uhhh.. well.. there's two sides to this coin.
You can gain a level of knowledge by studying a subject but you can't change your level of intelligence. You can learn shit but you can't change the speed at which you learn.
Your mind is set in sand, not stone. Some things you can change substantially but others are just the way they are.
First, why do you want to be smart?

Im a waste of air

Start by practicing little shit like proper grammar and punctuation while writing! If you don't know how to spell a word or if you'd like to replace a smaller word with a bigger one (using grandiose instead of "big" for example) then Google it! There are so many online dictionaries and thesaurus out there.
You can retrain yourself.

That shit is to appear smart, not actually improving his intellectual skills.
You can know a bunch of fancy words but you can still be a dumbass.
Also, for the OP, read, write, learn, improve yourself physically and mentally. Even if you're not sharp you can be knowledgeable.

Learning new languages and skills increases IQ and strongly stems off age-related IQ decline.

I tend to disagree. If you work on understanding things, your learning abilities will improve.
If you'll do lots of basic math problems with no calculator, calculating by mind will be easier and so on.
As for OP question-What do you consider 'smart'? You want to know shit, be more perceptive? ETC
Sorry for my bad English, it is not my primary language.
>>17802033
That's not a good reason
What do you think will happen if you become smart
Start with the Greeks.

Focus on knowing how the world works instead of how the world is.

Everyone wants to be smart and wise. What reason would be good enough for you?
>>17802126
>Be smart
Wow thanks
>>17802069
I want to be perceptive, i don't care for knowledge
>>17802137
no prob buddy

Study statistics, probability, and mathematical logic. This will improve your ability to analyze data, make predictions, and understand systems, which are the foundations of intelligence.
>>17802004
All you need to do is find one(1) thing you're passionate about and study it to its fullest.
Even if it's something mundane or "dumb", being an expert at it and discussing it with people with similar interest will make you seem smart.
No one is all around smart, there are rocket scientists who can't write for shit or name all the states in the US. They just know about rockets.

>not both
>eat healthier
>exercise
don't be a body builder but a healthy body leads to a healthy mind
>get regular and a decent amount of sleep
>study mathematics and philosophy
These subjects require lots of active thought as opposed to route memorization.
>stop watching porn
>play vidya
It's actually for the brain, better than passive for of entertainment like film, comics, anime, etc. Just don't play 5 hours a day in your mons basement.
