How can I motivate myself to clean my room? I normally only do it when I know a girl is coming over, but this wont happen for atleast another month and I would really benefit from cleaning my room.
I just dont know how to muster the effort
(My room isnt as bad as the one in this photo, but you get the idea)

Schedule it. Tidying up a couple times a week (pick best days and times of day for you) and a proper clean up once a week (weekend works well for this). Stick to this schedule. every. fucking. week. Make it a habit. If you let yourself slip up, it's easy to fall back into old habits. No one is "motivated" to clean, you just gotta do it and it's easier to get it done if you feel like you have to. Schedules are good for that. At least this helped me to control the chaos in my place.

Do clothes for 45 minutes one day, dirty dishes for 45 minutes another day, etc. Put on a really good album you haven't heard in a long time, or indulge yourself to some GOAT artist you've never taken the time to listen to before, and make cleaning your room an adventure! As you clean your room, the insides of your soul is mirroring the effect, and you will have a shiny new life!

I really, really like this woman, OP, and her ideas have helped me a lot:

Music, podcasts are definitely a good idea.
Just start doing it regardless of how you feel. There are things we have to do even though it feels uncomfortable. When you feel that twinge of discomfort focus on that feeling and ask "what is the reason for this?"
