Hello anons, so I had an lg g4 die from water damage cause I jumped in a pool with it like a dumbass, this happened around august and I was wondering if there's some way to somehow fix it this late in time. If not though should I just get another one or the lg g5?
Did you try putting it in rice?
This really should be done immediately.
But if you leave it in a bowl of rice for like 3 days with the backplate out and battery removed, it might work again.

as I've mentioned this happened back in august, but sadly the rice technique didn't work when I tried it during that time
Phone technician here.
1. Unscrew it
2. Open it from the back to get to your motherboard
3. Unplug the connectors and take out motherboard
4. All the white spots on the board are where the water damage is
5. Take lighter fluid or alcohol rubbing, i use lighter fluid, and put some of the fluid on a toothbrush.
6. Brush the water damage white stains off.
7. Screw it back together
8. Charge the phone
9. If it still doesnt charge or come on, try replacing the battery (its probably water damaged)
10. If you leave it charged and it vibrates when you power it up, you are good. If the screen doesnt come on and it vibrates and the notification light comes on, your lcd is fucked and you need a new one.

Probably fucked, depending on your service provider, you may have insurance to cover stupid shit like that. I worked for Verizon for a while and we cover that with TMP, a monthly installment. If you do not pay for that your warranty is most likely gonna only cover device malfunction. I managed to fool the system by short circuiting my phone by sending a direct current to my 3.5mm jack. If you try hard enough you may be covered. If not get a job and buy a $250 phone off the companies website or ebay

I've actually opened it before and I don't think there were really any white spots on the board, but I'll open it when I can and follow your advice

Naw, sadly I don't have any insurance, and I might actually have to buy it off eBay like I was thinking about earlier, but I was also thinking of waiting for a bit so that the lg g6 model could be released around april, but my current phone the I'm using is starting to show its age so I'm not sure if I should stick with it
maybe if you do the exact opposite of your current situation by getting a samsung galaxy 7 and having it explode in your hand your luck will even out and youll end up with a simple retard proof iphone

If there are no white spots or white colored smears, just brush all the connectors with lighter fluid (it dries quickly thats why we use it).
If the battery has a red sticker on it(watermark sticker), its probably bad and you need to try another battery.
