Do you mean a part time job like at fast food or Wal-Mart or a professional job?

If part time then all you really gotta do is start applying for everywhere you can get transportation to. Walk in, ask to see the manager, ask for an application. Do it and come back and ask when the store's general manager will be in and go in on those days and hand it to them personally. Recommended not to go when they're super duper busy.

While they're glancing over it linger around and wait for them to say whether or not they'll call you or if you're going to be starting anytime soon. If they don't glance at it or they're taking too long just ask if they'll call you. This is how I got my first job at a shitty fast food joint which I absolutely hate.

Also consider seasonal business trends. Stores like Wal Mart or Target will become more busy due to it being holiday season while a place like Sonic Drive-In will slow down because its the Winter months and no one wants to wait on their food in that cold ass weather.
