I have a problem with my voice levels.
When I talk about a subject that gets me excited, my voice tends to get really loud and frantic. I hate it, makes me look like a lunatic when I want to be reasonable.
Don't really know any ways to battle this, because when I'm speaking I don't really notice it myself.

It's a natural occurrence. Everyone does it, mate. If someone is truly inspired or genuinely enjoys something, their voices change. It's not just kids.

Well that's good to hear, it's just that I don't want people to use the excitement as an argument against me, if my point of view challenges theirs. I'd like to keep my calm in situations where I have to talk about stuff I'm passionate about.

I get where you're coming from.

I'm not sure how you'd combat that, but there's really nothing much you can to do change human nature.

Obviously, you can apologize for it, but at the same time, that gets kind of annoying in a sense.

Speech or even singing lessons can give you some control over your voice. You might even be able to do it with a few exercises. Are you in school/uni? Go to a speech or singing professor during their office hours and ask if they can recommend any books or exercises.
