"Slut" is an easy-to-use all-purpose insult to any female (Men can't be sluts) the name-caller doesn't like. Most of the time it isn't even directed specifically at its actual meaning, which has to do with sexual looseness. And even when it is used in that limited way - to damn a woman the speaker considers sexually too free and indiscriminate, the definition of "too" is different for everyone. So by calling a woman a slut, the speaker is exposing more about his/her moral standards than the slut's.

A slut, to me, is an easy woman that sleeps around all the time, acts trashy but oddly demands respect despite a lack of self respect.

A healthy, safe sex life is fine. When the numbers are high is when concern sets in, be it male or female honestly. I've had friends in both camps and those that slept around like crazy had some very fucked issues that made me distance myself from them.

I don't really like the word, but I think it's when immediate sexual gratification beats any other priorities. Like, there's nothing wrong with a single, healthy person sleeping around as much as he/she wants. But if they're breaking promises, sabotaging commitments or other peoples' relationships, disregarding their own health/safety/self-respect just because they can't control themselves when they get horny... that's slutty. If every rational part of you knows it's a bad idea, and your pussy/dick says "We're doing this anyway," you're doing something slutty.
