Do any of you meditate? If yes, for how long? Do you notice any positive effects? Should I start meditating? I'm quite fucked in the head for the past few years, I think it would help.
I did a lot of stupid hippie shit like you. There's so much stupid meditation stuff out there that you'd have an easier time finding legit Viagra on the internet. I'd recommend looking up self-hypnosis, since it's the same thing except not wrapped in stupid Eastern mysticism bullshit. All in all, it'll just teach you tap into existing willpower. Practice at it and you can start fucking around with your brain's root files like being able to fall asleep super easy and unblocking a blocked nostril. I'd recommend it.

I think you should define your own meditation, I like going for walks with my dog in the sunshine around a nice creek with lots of wildlife and stuff, it helps me clear my head and relax. I think anything where there is silence and you're not thinking about much can be classed as meditating.
I notice positive effects in that I feel happier afterwards, the sunlight and environment helps with this too. Any solo activity you do can be a good form of meditation, lifting weights, running, surfing, sunbaking etc.

Well I watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wirV265ZYSw and it seems a lot easier than self hypnosis. Did you ever succeed with self hypnosis? I mean did it help you with your problems in any way?

You're right in a way. When I lived with my parents, I used to go bike riding in the forest and read books there. It was really relaxing and helped me stop thinking about my problems. But I can't do that anymore and I actually feel worse since this activity is gone and nothing replaced it.

>Did you ever succeed with self hypnosis?
Like I said, it lets you tap into willpower that already exists. Most people have had terrible shit days full of work i.e. building a porch, so I've used that willpower to get myself through writing up long essays or doing homework. My other specific examples were solving insomnia and opening up nostrils when they close up.

That sounds too good to be true honestly. I've always been a skeptic about hypnosis and shit, but I'm gonna try pretty much anything to get me out of this shit hole.
Is there any special preparation needed? Or do you just do it off the bat? Of course I'm not expecting to succeed on my first try, but following a "guide" on the internet would work after a few tries, right? For example: http://www.skillsyouneed.com/ps/self-hypnosis.html

I agree with you. Typical meditation isn't for everyone. I play the piano right before going to bed. what I play affects my heart rate and I end up sleeping like a baby. I have a friend who likes to stretch before bed. It's relaxing, feels good and makes you more flexible. But nothing beats a relaxing activity outside. Sunlight is like a magical cure for depression.
