Got approved for a credit card, my score sucks ass and I want to fix it. How do I maximize raising my score?

if you just want to raise the credit number with no goal, then just pay your bills with the card, and pay it off every month.
don't get sucked into the trap of actuallly buying something
Make purchases you actually have the money for. The occasional "oh my paycheck is next week" is okay but don't do big purchases, use fucking sense.
Pay your monthly bills and Netflix, Spotify, whatever on it
Pay them off on time.

Should I let interest compound once before paying off?
>>17733426
No, never. You are literally giving money away.

use your credit card around 25-30% of your limit monthly.
- Move one cheap recurring subscription to the card. Netflix is one possibility.
- Set up auto-pay to blow away the entire balance every month.
- Lock the card away in a safe and forget about it.
The repeated total payoffs will do more for your credit score than almost anything else, and the combination of auto-pay and a recurring subscription makes this largely fire-and-forget.

NEVER EVER MISS A PAYMENT
Absolutely never miss one.
Ever.
It will blow your credit score so fast.
Pay your bill on time every month.
If you have a hard time not spending money you have, pay your bills early.

Disagree. Credit score goes up when you utilize less than 10% of your credit limit.

>tfw maxed my creditcard
>always pay payment on time every month
>miss one day this month because I didn't have the money
>they slam the payment on me again so my payment is OVER what I'm supposed to pay
>credit card had max 300 on it, now it's 335 I have to pay
Fucking hell. It's just one day I missed.
How much does this fuck your score up?

If this is the first time you missed a payment, try calling them to see if they will remove the additional charge.
I highly recommend creditkarma. It will tell you your best plan of attack.

It may be the third time I've missed a payment due to the fact that I forgot I had to pay.
But I couldn't pay it at all this time because I had no money at all. The minimum payment is due on the third, and I didn't get paid until Friday.
I paid it this morning, but it still makes me feel bad.
Like damn, it's just one day.
I don't see the point in good credit.
I'd rather just pay for everything without going into debt.
Avg credit score of 806 here. Here's what I do:
>have car loan
>have student loan
>have amex
>have Kohl's Charge I barely use
Pay everything in full every month. For my car insurance, I also pay that in full instead of doing monthly payments.
