Well, that happens too, depends a lot on the environment obviously.
Also you don't really need to act like them to understand social dynamics; I'd never make fun of somebody and would call out people who do, but it doesn't mean that I can't relate to their reasoning. Being able to relate does help to find the best approach how to deal with it.
