I mean for one manners were huge there, yet everyone I met was incredibly work focused which was really inspiring for my studying. I kept sitting at the same place for lunch, eventually I found myself having lunch with this Japanese fella by the name of Kosuke. Yeah I can see your point, the overall politeness can be a pain. Especially when they get confused, this other American weeb was there and she was incredibly rude with everyone. Yet they didn't "get" her and just smiled politely. She tried talking my friend into getting a tattoo... Poor guy just looked at her like she was insane and she didn't understand at all despite being a "Japanese Major." I told her about the ties to the stigma of tattoos there... She wasn't having it.

For me it's not the look as much as I find myself clicking more with the culture and overall mannerisms. My friends are all FOB, they are all very happy that I make them dinners and just hang out. Very fun group actually.
