The more likely/sane option is just enjoy the time. You'll be getting food and simple accommodations pretty much no matter what. Only hard parts are socializing, entertainment, and skill building.

90% of this can easily be fixed by being a charismatic little shit, befriending guards and other inmates. Entertain yourself as you see fit and build up a business or re-entry plan into society while you wait.

If your social skills arent up to par, try getting your hands on "How to make friends and influence people" and other such self help books before going into the slammer. Apply the concepts which are mostly "Actually give a fuck about others". Obviously, watch your own ass and be reasonable so no one screws you over.

I'd run. I live in Europe, so I'd skip borders through Schengen and escape to Russia or Turkey, then I'd go further east or south. I'd start looking for a job/income when I found a decently fucked up country with barely any cooperation with the EU/my country of origin. Evading international cooperation about my case would be my priority. Developed countries suck regarding that. Or don't, depening on your pov.

I had a friend who wanted to get off the radar for a while (not crime-related, just personal issues) and he went to Africa, bought an RV and a gun for self-defense, and lived off his money for a bit more than 3 months. Never had to use the gun and the occasional job helped him out with his spendings. Still spent a shitload of money though. Started in South Africa and just drove around, not giving a fuck where he was going as he told me, and ended up in Sierra Leone. Came back to Europe because Ebola.


I'd consider something similar if I'd have his money and I was in your situation. I'm not sure if I'd survive without vaccines though, which would be pretty hard to get without being suspicious as someone waiting for a sentence.

And if I get caught? I'd kill myself. It's 2016. Compare it to 2006. The world has changed. It keeps changing, along with your friends and family. You'll change too, and since it's prison, it would be for the worse. I couldn't come back and just go on with my life. I mean, dude, it's 10 years. That's a lot of time.
