no one is there own person. we're all a reflection of our enviroment. if you want to go deeper, free will doesent even exist.

I'm just a fucking sponge to my environment man

Free will does exist. Every argument I've ever heard about free will not existing is extremely stupid. I won't go into it here because its off topic but yes rest assured free will does exist. Don't mind fuck yourself like that anon you'll go absolutely mad if you think things like that.

out of curiosity, what arguments have you heard?

I will enact my free will to tell you to fuck off, faggot.

Not that guy, but people with a pretty poor understanding of neurobiology and physics often claim that free will is impossible because the brain is deterministic, which it obviously isn't.
There are other arguments against free will, not all of which are as flimsy as that one, but the most definite thing you can say about them is that they're unsettled, with very smart people on both sides, and that they're likely to remain so for our lifetimes.

>because the brain is deterministic, which it obviously isn't.
but everything you know is bound by the knowledge you have. your actions and thoughts are determined by hypothesizes constructed from experiences, schooling, culture and maybe genetics. the mind cant magically generate knowledge out of nothing.

I'm not sure in what universe that has anything to do with free will.
I'm sorry for being patronizing, but I don't think you really understand the concept very well.

free will: the ability to act at one's own discretion
obviously if actions and thoughts are predetermined then so are choices.
>>17679919
Having your choices limited by your genetics & upbringing isn't the same as having your choices predetermined.
