My boss e-mailed me to hand in a project.

I did the work and read it over many times reading that it was due Monday (today).

It was actually requested to be due BEFORE Monday. I don't know how I didn't see that "before" part as I referred to the e-mail several times.

How big of a deal is this? It's giving me pretty bad anxiety even though I handed it in first thing in the AM as planned.

Fucking stupid. Don't do this. The response to this lie is, "Okay, so why didn't you let me know it was going to be late?" Which you don't have a good answer for, and now you're caught being dishonest.

Apologize for your mistake in person (if applicable) and in passing, or if your boss brings it up. It was an honest mistake, keep it that way.
