It recently occurred to me that i haven't read a book in my free time in over a year. Since i started going to university i've only read textbooks or bonus literature for exams.
I'm a slow reader, i tend to take breaks and think about what i've read, and i find my self regressing quite a bit.
Going into my 3rd semester i feel confident in my ability to organize studying. I feel like i should organize my free time as well, rather than waste hours browsing 4chan and watching youtube videos.
I also have a backlog of books i want to read, various genres, classics, fantasy, books somewhat related to my field of study etc...
Any tips on reading faster? I mean, i'll probably get faster with more practice, but i think getting faster at reading will be very beneficial. I also want to cut regression.
My goal is to start reading 1 book per week in my free time. Maybe increase it as i go, idk.
Think i might turn off my modem, make some coffee/tea (whichever i feel like drinking) and read.
Will playing some classical music on low volume help? If so, what would you recommend i download, any particular pieces good for concentration?

I listen to classical music to do homework, read etc, its extremely relaxing.
The way your eyes look at the beginning of a line is innefficient, try to make it so your left eye just barely sees the beginning of the left side of a new line. Also paraphrase the end of aa line, grazing quickly looking at it, or using your brain to fill in the rest while continuing to the next line, if it is something predictable.

I never liked reading books,so I wouldn't force myself now to start reading. Reading 4chan,watching videos on YouTube or better watching movies/series online is much more entertaining.

I liked reading books, but i was just gradually reading less since i was 14/15. This year i haven't read anything because i had a lot to study so reading was the last thing on my mind once i was done with exams.

I don't really have a way to make myself read faster but when I'm really busy I dedicate a set time to read - like at night always have a free time slot that you put aside to read a book.
I think reading faster would be something that can come overtime the more you read.

I'm thinking about setting aside 2 hours after working out for reading.
