My brother who is 24 is addicted to heroin. He's been to rehab, came back and started using again. He has all the characteristics of a drug addict including extreme mood swings, stealing, lying, denying, manipulating, etc etc. My dad was paying his rent up until this month. He has decided to cut my brother off financially for good. My brother will not have a place to live by the end of October. He has no job and no place to go. Today he asked me if I could buy him food, even something off a dollar menu. I told him no because I think he needs to hit rock bottom. Did I do the right thing? I can't help him, or can I? What would you do? I love my brother but I don't recognize him anymore.
He is begging me for food telling me he is starving. What do I do?
Shit sucks man, how old are you op? I would start off by saying no and letting him think stuff through, then afterwards tell him youll do it. If you love him and dont want to lose him, i would try and help him the hard way.

If you do decide to get him anything, remember under no circumstance should you give him money or anything that can be easily sold for money. That will likely not go towards good and will just be spent on more drugs. Buying food should be okay if you decide to do it since a dollar menu cheeseburger can't be pawned off for drugs.
give him food this one time, and tell him to get his shit together because in 20 years hes still going to be sticking a needle in his leg/arm and hustling every day for 20 dollars.
I see it every day. I know a junkie and he ripped off every one so far, and he only moved in the community 2 months ago. He ripped me off too. Hes 46. Living at my grandmothers as a house butler.

you are going to watch him die and there is nothing you can do. He has to decide he wants to get better and has to do something about it.
