Hey adv,
My water company is claiming I used more than 80,000 gallons last month. That's $800 I don't have. What do? There are no obvious signs of leaking at my house and they sent out a guy to check who also found nothing. They claim to have a leak checking service that obviously didn't work. What do?
Could you possibly have left on a faucet for the whole month?
Check around all the outside faucets for leaks. Check around the meter too. I have found leaks there. A slab leak could run it up. I would have them send another guy out for a double check.

Plz tell me you weren't stupid enough to not ask the guy for a record or a note saying he didn't find any leaks with his id and number and complete name.
You can sue them you know? Call again and keep pushing anon

Did you look at your water meter?

Are you in California? I heard that this happened to a couple other people on the radio on a lawyer call up show. Try contacting the DWP
I am not sure, but he may have said you are supposed to pay them then submit a claim after paying otherwise you'll get charged for late fees or something, not totally sure

this is generally how you are supposed to handle your finances.
a responsible adult pays their fines and bills and whatever, then challenge them afterwards, so you aren't in deeper shit.
