Find a way to financially support yourself at the standard that keeps you satisfied and that makes for a good life. Find things, people and places you love and that makes your life a happy one. For a life to be proud of, accomplish something you can be proud of or something to be remembered by.

People without goals or ambitions are terrible things. They wallow in pity, drown in sorrow, or amuse themselves with distractions.

A good life and happy life are ones where you self-actualize, and you can only self-actualize through achievement and sacrifice.

First, do no harm. Try your best to live a life that directly harms nobody.

Then find what you want to do with your time. This includes the 40 hours a week you'll be paid for your time, but also the 128 hours you won't. A life that has at least some hours of happiness and fulfillment is a good and happy life.

That will be different for everyone. For some it will mean money and material things, for some spouse and family, for some creative expression, for some challenges overcome.

The key to a good and happy life is finding and creating YOUR good and happy life.

Probably by following either classical stoicism, scepticism, or cynicism. More recent philosophies are also interesting and go different directions, but are often based on Aristotelian ideas, neo-platonism, and other older philosophies.

I'm usually pretty happy and I'm very poor. I have unlimited media, can get fucked up pretty much whenever, I have a decent family, and some good friends. But despite all that, I think I could be happy with just food, video games, and porn.
