I'm a 27 year old senior medical resident in New York. Last month I had this cute med student on my team, she was really smart and helped out alot, but the whole month was so insanely busy that I didn't even notice she was hot until her last couple of days on the rotation. I blew my chance to ask her out and thought I wouldn't be seeing her again.
This morning, we saw each other passing by as she was part of a hospital tour group for residency applicants. We couldn't actually stop and talk because I was also in the middle of rounds with my attending
I know asking someone out through text is pretty much doomed through failure, but here's what I plan to text her right now if I get you guy's blessing
>"Hey Anonette it's Anon, congrats on your interview! I'm sure they liked you alot"
Then she'll reply "thanks! Everyone was so nice here and I really look forward to working here someday blah blah blah" or something.
How the conversation will go from there without hitting a brick wall, I dunno. While I was working with her, she would always talk about wanting to apply here and I would tease her by saying stuff like "you wanna apply to THIS place???? why???". So I actually do have alot of horror stories, inside info, and advice to give her.
How should I approach this?
If you help me out I'll continue giving free medical advice here, no matter how clinically or ethically questionable it is

don't do it. shes a 4th year. she is interviewing. let her do her thing and dont complicate her life with wanting to start something and having false expectations and disappointments when she ranks some place across the country.
If you just wanna have a casual relationship, go for it. romantic is a bad idea.
I made the mistake of getting involved with my resident and i'm a 4th year and i hate it. she is in the same department taht i'm applying for, and she wants me to match here. just dont be crazy and have false expectations OP

I'd say this is pretty dangerous. If things go south she can say some shit about a power dynamic. I worked with an IM attending who met his ezwife when she was his student, while he was a resident.
After she's no longer your student, you can call her up and see if she'd like to go do some fun stuff. Advise her on interviews and stuff. See if you actually like her.

However you cut it, as long as she is a student, or even a junior doctor, you can be accused of using your implicit power over her unethically. You have to wait until she is totally out of your power.

That's a horrible position to put her in. She has displayed zero interest in you so she probably has zero interest in you. She'll be afraid to say no because as you hold power over her.
