This is literally all there is to it. It can take some time and multiple tries (but only one per woman, max). But the only difference between Chad and you is that Chad started sooner.

Depends on where you live but I don't even know if you can just change your first name if you want to.
If you are american you probably can, probably the city hall or the place that takes care of name changes.
The change in documents seems like a hassle desu and I'd never do it
