I don't have a "tattoo artist" to ask; I live in a small town with not many professionals laying around; so a friend freehanded this on me.. It's not even close to being finished and I plan on paying someone to improve it; was just looking for a bit of artistic advice before I could afford to consult with a professional.

See, this is what's wrong with you people. You get tattoos without planning them out. There's no rhyme or reason to your back. You have a tree, but also a gemini sign and something else. None of them match styles or are cooperate with each other.

Just sketch a tree's branches to make it more realistic if you can't imagine it. What is that behind the tree? Is it water? If so make it more clear - everything in the background MUST be less detailed and lighter /that is a rule/.

I have been to plenty of large cities and fantastic artist.. But everyone has to start somewhere and if I wanna alow my apprentice friends to tattoo me I will. I like having "rough" looking art on me. Why is everyone so quick to judge; the world is so full of hatred.

Firstly, stop taking things so personal. This is the internet so grow some thick skin. Second, the truth is the hardest to swallow. Its not a great tattoo or piece of art. My best advice is to first, stop attributing personal value to body art. It is the height of superficialism and shallowness. Invest in a real, proper hobby, like art, fitness, reading or writing, something with tangible results.

Second, I would also consider removing your tattoos. Maybe its just the angle but with your size that isnt going to age well at all. The design itself isnt really appealing to begin with so if you can, remove it.

Lastly and I reiterate, get some thick skin. You talking back to the others rudely makes you look as bad as them, childish even. Be it here or reddit, this is the internet. Get your act together.

You don't come on 4chan to get politeness. You come on 4chan to get what people are actually thinking, without any filters. What you are hearing, OP, is total honesty. And here is mine: a tattoo is yours. Our advice is fucking useless because it's your body and yourself you're expressing. Get the pops of color. Get a moon. Get things that reflect who you are and what you want on there. And quit feeling entitled to respect and kindness. You earn those things.

When I mentioned losing "all of my weight" I should have specified.. I weighed 180 (I'm 5 foot 9) I now weigh 155... I'm not feeling entitled to anything, more or less shocked; I feel it's human nature to be kind and people have just lost their way, if everyone gave respect and kindness freely no one would ever have to worry about "deserving" it! I didn't realise how negative the world has gotten, I try to avoid social media for this reason. Yes, I did take it personal. It was a picture of my "fat" back and they made me feel terrible. I'm not making excuses. Just explaining my perspective. I should have waited a day to reply, it's what I would usually do to prevent outbursts of stupidity on my part, ha. I do have a lot of hobbies. I read, make necklaces and such, I draw and paint.. But I also have terrible depression and a history of cutting myself. The one thing that has helped me not do that,(in almost 10 years now) is body modification, I don't expect sympathy just being matter of fact. I'd rather let an apprentice tattoo me and have to have it "fixed" later then to go back to my old ways.. I shouldn't of responded in such a rage of butt hurt emotion, I can admit that! I appreciate the perspective I've gotten from getting such harsh responses tho! Take care. Sorry again for my rude responses.
