That's just a phrase used to conceal the real reasons. Nobody ever broke up overb that reason for real. Or it's a severe case of insecurity, which is a valid reason to get out of a relationship. It means you aren't ready for having one so you, again, do the other person a favore

Nothing in life worth doing is easy, as long as you two are willing to talk things out and try and both genuinely want to work things out, everything is potentially fixable except stuff like one of you wanting children and the other not.

If you guys both want to work shit out, it's still not time to break up.
