I sold a monitor on Craigslist a week ago, the buyer tested it out and was satisfied enough to purchase it. Now today he called me and threatened me saying that I better refund him or else he'll make it ugly. They say the sound doesn't work and that he's coming to give it back.
What should I do? How do I know he didn't break it in the past week and it trying to blame me for it? He didn't test out the sound when he bought it so I can't prove it was working when he paid.
It was an ASUS MX239H and I sold it for $80
Does he know where you live? Does he have anything in writing claiming you had it verified as 100% functional? If no then tell him to fuck himself and block his number.

He has my address, he came to my house because he wanted to test it out and be sure it works
And no he has nothing in writing verifying it's complete functionality

This, but if he knows where you live it might be best to just give it back to avoid making this way worse than it should be.

What can he do? Will he call the cops or something?

He can't, I'm just thinking he could break your stuff or try to harm you. If he tries you could take it to court, but that's a lot of effort for something that doesn't seem to be a very big deal.

The cops will tell him they can't do anything. He can attempt small claims court but that would be insanely dumb over $80. Might be best to refund him or negotiate a partial refund since he never tested the audio. Make this a lesson to always meet a buyer either at their house or a public space such as a park, mall, or police station.

Yeah you're right
I'll probably just take it back and then send it in
It has two years of warranty left after all
